I signed up for the Reddit SS, this will be my third year. I was matched with a pretty cool person who has a lot of shared interests so finding something for them will be lots of fun. When you are matched on the reddit exchange you do not get each other, you get a random person and they get someone else. The last two years I received books so I've got my fingers crossed I get something different this time around XD
What sort of SS are you participating in? Have you ever done it before? What sort of things did you receive? If you've done SS a number of times, what were the best and worst gifts you ended up with? 🎁
I'm doing a work secret santa, which is fairly tame. Usually get the likes of candles or chocolates.
Signed up for the Imgur secret santa this year, first time doing it so hubby and I are pretty excited. We specifically went for international so hoping for something fun!
Last I did was back in uni with people I was barely acquainted with lol. It was kind of a disaster. xD I'm the type to put in extra thought into the presentation so it's kind of partially my fault for the awkwardness. :P
I'm glad I don't have to do secret santa this year but I hope yours go well! c:
Nice! I hope some day I'll be able to afford to do that international option. Just feel like the shipping is going to cost as much as the gifts I end up sending XD
Thank you! I'm the same way. If I can, I like to wrap a few smaller items and have one big show-stopper. lol
I'm doing one with my friends. We decided to have ours with a higher spending limit, and most of us decided against joining in on the bigger one where we work. There's going to a White Elephant at our work holiday party that I will participate in though.

Friend ones are the best because you actually have an idea of what they would like. lol But white elephants can be fun! One time, and this is random, someone bought one of those parrot toys that you can record your voice onto. He put it in a bag and had it saying "Help me!" and "Let me out!" So obviously everyone wanted the bag XD Pretty hilarious.
I love your parrot toy story lol!
I've decided to buy my friend a set of my favorite mascara. Now I just have to think about ideas for the White Elephant. This will be my first one. There's a cookie swap at work too so I'll be baking on Sunday. c:
What books did you get from your Reddit SS in the past?

Oh man, so I originally requested something unique to the persons home town. I guess I was vague because they sent me an atlas about Portland Oregon. lol. The next year I was sent a journal, that may have been hand made? There wasn't a note or anything, so I was a bit disappointed. But it was an Alice in Wonderland print, like fabric cover. Weird texture, but cool idea. Although I don't honestly see myself ever using it XD Still look cool on my shelf next to my assortment of Alice books. I like to hoard them. u.u;
Gonna be blunt, the person from Portland sounds like an idiot lol. Who would send an atlas instead of a locally made good or product??
The journal sounds beautiful, and I like your book collection. c:

I did one at work. It was my first one, besides a simple one in 4th grade. (I'm in my 30's too lol.) I pulled a girl that sits one desk down from me, she has the personality of my 16 year old self, so she was pretty each to gift. Gave her favorite candle and Magic cards. The SS that got me gave a nice gift too. Idk if she intentionally did this -- but either way it was amazing. Two things I listed were tea and anything doughnut themed. She gave me to two Dunkin Donuts teabags! And 3 KitKats, a really nice candle, and Burt's Bees lipgloss in peony.
My main friend group did Secret Santa this year, although most of them ended up not being a secret, lol.
I got my one friend a squishy Batman pillow she'd been wanting, a white coffee cup with pretty gold handwriting saying "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" plus some stars and stuff, and an adorable Toothless charm.
My Secret Santa got me a body butter and a bunch of soaps from the Body Shop! :D
LOL, I think they were just being lazy bums XD
I shipped my gift off to my SS, got her a Hamilton cookbook and coloring book, from her wish list. And then a mystery DBZ and Harry Potter figurine for funzies. They should have all been received by now. Just waiting for her to post to be sure. My SS sent me a note apologizing for shipping late, the deadline was last Friday. I honestly don't care how late it is so long as it is sent out. Can't wait to see what it is, fingers crossed it isn't another dang book!! XD
Sounds like you guys won the SS lottery this year :D Those gifts all sound awesome! Its nice when people actually put thought into what they are gifting, lol.
I wanted to sign up for an art one, but was just an hour or so too late. :/ We did one at my voluntairy work but it was not so nice, I made a christmasset (film tips, a blanket, mix for making chocomilk and brownies) and I got a glass plate back that I didn't need so I left it there..
We have Secret Santa at my workplace. We go around all December and gift and tease each other and have to guess who our secret santa is.
I bought mine a bunch of random stuff like soy sauce, mayo, chicken stuff etc. but also good stuff like sweets and cute things.
My SS so far has wrapped my entire desk in wrapping paper and has put stickers all over my desk xD
I did a SS through a facebook group I'm on called in colourful company! I can't wait to see if my SS likes their gifts!
I also did one at work and got an awesome rainbow scarf that my colleague knitted!! :) x
We do a SS at work every year. My first year, I was still new, so I got a leftover bodywash set as a "we totally forgot about you, but don't want you to think we forgot about you" thing. Last year my SS... sort of tried? Like I had down that I liked Sci-fi/Fantasy books, so they gave me a True Blood novel (which I actually really dislike >>; ) and another bodywash set.
We do an anon SS, so no one can spoil it, but my store is full of chatterboxes who end up spoiling it, anyway. XD So, I know who I get basically when I get their list. So I always go off-list, because I know my people well. This year, I got a coworker who put that she wanted bagels and cream cheese for her SS, then a couple of weeks later starts "Ohjeez, I hope they aren't actually getting me that. I really don't want that, anymore."
Looking for art of my characters! Have a ton of items to trade (not much sP, even less CSC)
We did a Secret Santa at work, but 90% of everyone put down that they wanted gift cards.. so (for me) it was rather boring.
A friend of mine did a reddit SS, which sounds pretty interesting. I might try it next year.
I did a Secret Santa at work, got some guy that I barely know... hope he likes Starbucks gift cards 'cause I have no idea what to get him.
Cheap SS with my friends and got air horns for mine, his gf is going to hate me ( its ok she is my best friend ) Lol! :P
i did a secret santa in my sorority this year-- two actually! one with actual presents and one with paddles. the paddle i got back was so so pretty and like... sweater themed. it was so cute.
my favorite secret santa gift was in my sorority last year, my sibling got me letters to a young poet and a book about being part of the universe, and a keith haring cloth pin! (he's my favorite artist ever.)
